Alphonso Davies' 94th-minute equaliser helped Bayern Munich seal a spot in the round of 16 of the Champions League as they beat Celtic 3-2 on aggregate in the two-legged playoffs fixture on Tuesday. Bayern legend Muller was once again kept on the bench in the second leg at Allianz Arena and was introduced into the match in the final 24 seconds as he replaced Jamal Musiala. Muller ultimately finished the game without taking a single touch of the ball.

Kompany's decision to field a player of Muller's stature for a few seconds did not go down well with the ex-Germany captain as he said on : "This is humiliating. It made me sad and I feel sorry for him. I was shocked. Thomas Müller doesn't have to put himself through that. He is one of the greatest and most successful players of all time.
"So for those few seconds, the coach can take another player. If that is the perspective for the future, then he should do something else. I don't think he enjoyed it. For what? So that he can be credited with another Champions League appearance? I would have felt stupid if I were him."

Muller has seen his game time reduced at the Bavarian club in the final year of his contract. He has made 19 Bundesliga appearances thus far, however, he made it to the starting lineup only on six occasions. The veteran player is yet to agree to put pen to paper on a new deal and has been linked with a move to the MLS next season as a free agent.
